Devil's Island is one of a group of islands lying about three miles off the mainland. The islands themselves are very pretty and look idyllic, however they were used as a French Penal Colony and certainly were not a place of pleasure for the unfortunate people sent there. |

There was only a short stay at the island, as there is not a lot to see, though it was pleaseant to be able to walk around the place at sea level, as well as walking up hill onto a natural plateau. Discovery set sail just after mid-day bound for the first of the West Indian Islands we were to visit, Trinidad. |
